If you are a Hybridge client, you almost certainly have a Cisco Meraki network protecting and connecting your users. One of the benefits of being our client is that we actively manage and monitor your network. This means that if your internet provider has an issue and your network goes down, we know; if the network runs out of IP addresses needed for a device, we know; if someone plugs in a rogue DHCP server, or if power is out, we know. We know, and we act on it, often before you know there is a problem so we can get you back up and running.
The network sends alerts to our team real-time, and our network engineers log in to your network to verify the problem and rectify it as needed. Sometimes it is a brief ISP outage, which happens a lot, and the network is back online, so no further action is needed, and we close the ticket. If this happens a lot, we will reach out to the ISP to find out why and get that fixed. Sometimes it is more serious, and the network is still offline or impaired, in which case we reach out to you and start working with your team on our network down response procedure, and we call the ISP to report the outage.
You will see these tickets on your monthly report and what those network alerts pertain to. They are important to your team because:
- Knowing the internet is down at your office gives you the opportunity to tell teammates to work from home so they can stay productive, and make their first morning Zooms
- Some offices have electronic access control systems, so if the Internet is down only those with a physical key will be able to get in
- Sometimes remote workers connect into resources in the office or via tunnel to AWS, and they need to know their connection problems are at the office end, not their end, so they don’t waste time troubleshooting
- If there are security concerns in the network, we can act immediately to keep you protected
- It shortens the time to get you back online as we call the ISP and start the recovery process, so your office can get back online
