At Hybridge, security is a top priority. We know we say it often, and loud, but we cannot say it enough given that 60% of businesses that suffer a cyberattack go out of business within 6 months.

Cybercrime is the fastest-growing form of criminal activity today, set to cost businesses a total of $5.2 trillion globally over the next five years, according to Accenture. Statistics also show that 43% of all cyberattacks are aimed at small businesses, but only 14% of these businesses are prepared to defend themselves. Keeping yourself aware and proactive against any threats is absolutely priceless, saving you a lot of time, headaches, and especially money. According to insurance carrier Hiscox, cybercrimes cost businesses of all sizes approximately $200,000 on average, and more than half of all small businesses suffered at least one breach within the last year.

Now that we’ve scared you enough, what are a few preventative measures you can take to ensure your defenses against a potential cyberattack?

  • Backups - Keeping daily backups of your data and files that can be restored in the event of a crypto locker/ransomware attack
  • Anti-virus/firewalls – Ensuring you have a trusted and up-to-date antivirus and firewall can guard you against malicious attacks or harmful viruses
  • Education/awareness – Make sure you and your employees know to be very skeptical of any email/attachment/link and to instruct them of any possible warning signs
  • Requiring 2-factor authentication – Most logins allow for 2-factor authentication, enabling this will require you to enter a code off of your phone whenever you log in

We always advocate and discuss the steps above with all our clients, but if you are not our customer, want to ensure you are prepared for a potential cyber-attack, or want to find out more about our SecureCare services, you can always email us at support @ hybridge.com or call us at 888-353-1763.
